A Yoga Practice Poem

Feb112016
PhilosophyKate Smith Prema Health Wellness Center
Sense the present day
Faces gazing and bodies embracing
I seat myself among the seekers
to play and lay witness

to the unfolding

We have been welcomed
to this beginning

and so…

Echoed eyes close, jagged breath slows
I find me in the mist
there’s a whole hope to get ready
a long while waiting
let’s float it out & prep the fields
sigh off on the occasion
a lifetime’s in the making

there is a battle to be one

Archer of my soul
take this vital village stage
make mudra of my flesh
cite where lie the great divide
to that will I resign
so as to make my

 movements most divine

Inviting light
refreshing my screen
I find a space anew
in between
my breaths
my thoughts
my fears

…

We make the primordial appeal together
A collect call to great mystery
will she answer?

Do I listen?

Rise and ready
movement shakes out doubt
lift & invite
fold & empty
extend the offering & bow

salute and listen

(repeat, repeat, repeat)

Engage the practice. Break the habits.

renewal needs heat to find a way

Body as reflection
generate the circuitry
and redesign the mountains, dogs
the trees & the warriors in me
weave the ancient ways anew
resurrect the sages
their wisdom is our matter now
we’re on a timeless trial yet
time is running out
Look for levels & go deeper
front plane, side plane, back plane
steady gazing
up, down, & inside
breathing 360
I leave no corner
unmoved or unseen
in my centrifugal reverie
all may be revealed

to make this drama a wondrous play

After the show of light and color
I bathe in the ocean
where the sun meets the night.
A baptism of light and dark,
I unite with the water of the world
where all the sunsets go

to dream of the morning.

And when that one round ocean drops
out the corner of my eye
I know this thing is real
I rise and give thanks
